Wireless Network Maintenance Guidelines for Municipal Environments

Keltron Wireless Network Maintenance Guidelines for Municipal Environments

Keltron's active network radio signaling systems provide reliability, speed and cost savings to both the municipality and the subscribers. Our extensive experience with installation, deployment and maintenance of these wireless networks has enabled us to provide our customers with effective guidelines to achieve optimum system performance in a wide range of situations and conditions.

Keltron strongly recommends that ultimate accountability for ongoing maintenance of our wireless networks be placed under the control of a single entity. This responsible party may be the network owner or, if the network is owned by a municipality, a qualified, Keltron-trained contractor may be given the responsibility for network maintenance.

The following are Keltron's recommendations for effective wireless network maintenance:

Keltron wireless networks should be maintained on a regular basis.

All system owners should participate in training and oversee the on-going maintenance of their Keltron wireless network.

On a periodic basis, determined by the rate of network expansion, network parameters and overall performance should be reviewed with remedial action taken as needed.

In order for the responsible party to have access to all subscriber units for proper maintenance of the network, Keltron recommends that subscriber units not be sold to individual subscribers but rather the equipment should be owned either by the contracting alarm company or the municipality itself.

Keltron's wireless networks require ultimate accountability for ongoing service and maintenance of both the subscriber's equipment and the overall network connectivity and footprint. As a network expands, its footprint changes and there must be a responsible party to monitor changes and make corrections and enhancements as they become necessary.

Although Keltron is happy to provide guidance to all users, customers, dealers, and support staff on the proper procedures for maintaining a reliable network system, in the final analysis the responsible party must ensure that such procedures are correctly implemented.

The recommendations listed here are a brief summary of points to be considered for maintaining network integrity. We encourage you to call the Keltron factory or its representatives for further assistance in the operation of Keltron active radio networks.
